I’ve had cats around me for as long as I can remember. Five of my own at different times in childhood through adulthood, and many cats of friends, relatives, or others I’ve been able to know and love consistently so far over the course of my life. I love dogs and all other animals just as much, cats just are who keep coming around the most!
I’ve dealt with the usual cat-parent and cat-sitter stuff over the years: meds of varying kinds and methods when they’re sick or living with other life limiting illnesses, smoothing out new-cat introductions, and giving whatever mix of space, play, or affection they decide is acceptable that day. Nothing dramatic, just the sort of steady, attentive care that comes with loving and living with cats for decades. I also recognize the gift of being lap trapped on occasion, and will always give a furry friend with paws and a tail some extra time to snuggle!
These days I share life with Lucy (my beautiful blue-eyed senior rag doll) and Ricky (my ever-zesty adolescent orange fella), who keep me on my toes and make sure I never forget that cats have opinions about everything. After a some years away from formal cat-sitting to care for my mother through illness, I’m jumping back in because I genuinely enjoy being around cats and helping the humans who love them most make sure they are well cared for!
Outside of loving cats, I am an end-of-life doula and advance care planning facilitator, hospice volunteer, dementia advocacy volunteer, amateur backyard gardener, photographer (and yes, plenty of cat photos!), moon & star gazer, traveler, baker, arts & crafter.
