Yes. Because our sitters work independently in clients’ homes, reliability and communication are essential. Applicants may be disqualified if they have a history of missed commitments, poor communication, or are unwilling to follow basic care instructions and protocols. All sitters must be able to demonstrate professionalism when interacting with clients.
Professional pet care experience is helpful but not required. That said, this role is best suited for sitters who already have hands-on experience caring for cats or dogs in a responsible, independent setting and who understand feline or canine behavior, routines, and stress signals.
Most visits are scheduled in standard time blocks, typically ranging from short check-ins to longer visits depending on the client’s needs. Visit length is clearly outlined before you accept a request, so you’ll always know what’s expected in advance.
This partially depends on how often you would like to work and partly on how many requests we are getting at any given time.
Given vacation care is a seasonal business, the summer months and winter holidays are when we receive the most requests. Other parts of the year are slower and so there may not be many opportunities.

No. As an independent contractor, you choose which requests to accept based on your availability and preferences. We value reliability, so once you accept a booking, we expect you to follow through as agreed.
Commute time depends on the service area you choose and the requests you accept. We aim to match sitters with clients in reasonable proximity whenever possible, but travel between visits is part of in-home pet care. You are free to limit your service radius.
All partner sitters who work with The Comforted Kitty are independent contractors. You maintain control over your availability and workload, while we provide administrative and operational support to help streamline bookings.
