I grew up with cats starting as a baby. My parents had 5 cats. Once my parents split, and my mom had moved away, my family, consisting of my dad and 2 sisters and me, accumulated a total of 10 cats (and 30 rabbits) before I moved out of the house and on my own. I took 1 cat with me that I had adopted from the Humane Society as a volunteer when I was 16 (she passed away from severe pneumonia years later). I got married and adopted my best friend Bonkers, who was a 1-year-old Maine Coon mix. He was and will always be my heart kitty. I had started college to get into Veterinary Medicine, but that did not work out in the long run, nor did my marriage. Bonkers came with me on my journey to Phoenix AZ, where I attended ASU and graduated in Microbiology. Bonkers was loved by everyone. He was diagnosed with diabetes at age 7. Luckily, I had pet sat a dog with diabetes, and I also have Type 1 diabetes, so giving injections was nothing new to me. Bonkers lived to be 17 and got to live with my current husband (and I) before he passed away. Since moving into our new house almost a decade ago, my husband and I have brought 10 cats in to be with us. We’ve had lots of adventures in learning to make their lives the best, and we have built a catio and a cat run in our house, as well as providing feeding schedules, medication, and play time. I volunteer with a local shelter and play an active part in the community by fostering, colony caretaking, and participating in Trap-Neuter-Release of outside cats.
I petsit for one lady in Tempe, and she is always grateful that I can care for her kitty with medical issues, as well as her outdoor cats and fosters.
In my spare time I enjoy reading fantasy and science fiction, watching vet shows, and going to the movies!
